In 2018, myself and a friend discovered that we had both received completely unjustified parking tickets at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
Having successfully challenged the issuer, UK Parking Control Ltd, we discovered that, even when presented with court-tested evidence of dishonest behaviour, no public or private body was prepared to take responsibility for regulating members of the private parking industry.
By highlighting how self-regulation has failed for the past eight years, and explaining how we achieved justice through the civil court system, we hope to encourage others to challenge their own unjustified parking tickets. That includes holding the DVLA to account when they choose to assist private companies in pursuing spurious parking contraventions.
It is a long and ongoing story, because with very few exceptions, public bodies have been unwilling to ask the important questions on our behalf.
